Oven Baked Buttery Corn On The Cob

Summer is a tad delayed , rumour has it that it is currently on holiday in Barbados , keep the faith after there is beauty in each and every day. I've been watching the birds whilst I cook and find it rather engaging , the way they swoop bob and weave. I think that we need to to celebrate life more ,  we are too quick sometimes to announce with forthright the bad situations. Of course that isn't to say we can't moan but a little prospective goes a long way I am finding nowadays.

Ingredients

4 corn on the cob

100g low fat spread or butter

4 squares of foil so that we can parcel up the corn on the cob

Additional flavouring make crushed garlic / crushed peppercorns etc if you wish

Method

Preheat the oven to 200 C

Place each corn in a parcel of foil then place in the oven for around 35 minutes depending on your oven

Top with the low fat spread/butter seal the corn up into a foil parcel

Open carefully and either eat on its own or serve with another food of your choice, any spare left over once cooled could for instance be added to tuna pasta mayonnaise ( which is what I did )

Disclosure ~ I received some vouchers as part of the Orchard scheme from Tesco to buy this and the recipe is mine ~ I wasn't asked to do this

What You Don't See Is

What you don't see is.

The struggle you don't see the struggle I've had on a daily basis and don't even get me started on those who say I'm victim playing . If I am very much mistaken this is my depression not yours and you're required to either help or not there's no in between so unhelpful commenting or griping is very not ever needed for us who suffer.

There is light.

But there is a sense of underwealming  loss can you Imagine it having a love of books as I do, see that's something that you didn't know about me. I can only liken it to Michangelo putting down his paint brushes for several years and only drawing stick men , really doesn't make sense when you have an inate ability. To have an ability lost is soul destroying , you see people hear people discussing books and you can't join it ~ you're excluded.

The books just gather dust on the shelves , the words are still there but they're trapped in a prison of paper. Hope is there hold on to the words that talk , the just need for you to open the book, the book that has been gathering just upon the shelf , it should have been read it could of been read. Time is both a trap and a treasure and you've just got to discover that for yourself , time this moment is a treasure.

The dust is blown off and we are off on an adventure , will I handle it ?

We'll just have to see.

Saturday Is Caption Day

Can you caption this ? I found this fellow upon a country walk yesterday , I've a feeling he's a long long way from home . I think he will be needed in around 6 months time ho ho ho ...

Sultry Summer Skies

Betwxit the earth the heaven and the  sultry summer skies , the housemartins swirl and swoop this heady summer days, a burning and a yearning spell is cast over me that I must get out and let the magic of the countryside tip over me. I couldn't stop a bit longer letting the time run through my fingers like water. When all the world is bit a hullabaloo throw open the door and just walk it through !

That magical time before the world wakes , the clinking and clanging of the breakfast plates , the time mine the time is now to take a stroll upon the lane once more. I dream of bicycle with baskets  and other such things to know one day ,I will glide down the lanes oh how the nightingale will sing. Further I get from the urban sprawl once more in the lush of the countryside which is so much the draw , the dew is fading form the mornings earlier laze , the promise of a good day is all I want report.

The day has yet to been written don't you see , a friendly hello upon each welcome traveller upon the lane carries the message of humanly kinds upon the masses. Spiralling little acts kindness are but a few ones they remind us we have are heart and we are not alone ,

"Hello Good Morning "

A magpie I see hopping gleefully and quite cheekily , thistles twist bend and sway with intrepitation will they scratch upon my person ?

Just a little wander today ... you see

I have to get back for my cup of tea.

Ninjakillercat Blog Will Be No More

Ninjakillercat as you see it will be no more , it will be gone , out of existence as you know it now. I know you are saddened by this . I am sorry that you are crying onto your cup of tea as you read this, it has been a wonderful journey with you all but times shift, I simply can not and will not keep up with the shift in the different flavours of social media "Up your Periscope" is that a carry on film?

No the truth of it .

I have had enough.

Ok

Enough of the drama llama there is enough of that in social media as it is * wink wink

My blog is getting a makeover and by September end of will be all sparkly and new I am taking on the services of Ellie Illustrates

To all that have helped in my blog design and technical what nots before I thank you.

Narnia And The Spare Room

It is 5.30 and I am up no idea why but there you have it, husband has tootled off to work so I might as well get up . I have a school trip to go to as year 2 are studying Victorians which should be great fun and hopefully the weather will be sunny. Do you ever wish you hadn't started a certain job at a certain time ? I mean why on earth when I woke at 5.30 did I decide to start tidying the spare room ? In Narnia the spare room was a whole load more fun and prompted adventure , yes there was a lion and an evil Snow Queen buy hmmm we can't have it all.

As I typing this it is just me and the Bob the wood pigeon that seems alert in this world , the promise of the day is quite refreshing to wake before the whole of the rest of the world or so it seems to you . The promise that is yet to come , for me it is going to be the blooming spare room to make some sort of sense of it before I go to school. I know at some pointing I am going to have to go the the holy grail of furniture stores IKEA and by shelving to put the stuff on , I will throw out as I go along , stuff where does stuff magic itself from ?

I have other blog stuff to organise an edit is so sunny out I better not forget the washing , mind telepathy tells me that my husband could have done this but we will let him off. I mean yesterday a burning smell doesn't constitute that I am responsible , today no it wasn't me .... Yesterday Rollie should have gone to the vets for his annual injection , normally I block the door with my brabantia bin ( any brand will do ) this time I used the heavy and I mean heavy washing basket but .... guess what Rollie pushed it and ran out. There upon there was a Benny Hill chase around the neighbourhood calling for Rollie , oooh I suppose I got my 10,00 steps for the day !  he goes next week instead so this time I will leave the husband in charge.

My son has got his 6 th form bridging day this week and soon it will be coming up to the prom /ball doesn't time fly

Anyway must dash ...

OOOH I wonder what is in that cupboard ?

Any sorting organising tips welcome !

Off to the Spare room in Narnia

Carrot Tahini Salad

I have been rather slack I have say with my meal planning as it's been GCSE central here for the last few months , so meal times have been fraught at times .With my son dashing getting food and racing off the study , as that was he wanted to do I really wasn't going to cram his studying style he is older enough now to regulate himself.

Sunday

Lasagne and carrot and Tahini salad

With this I just grated the carrot , add a tablespoon of olive oil , a squeeze of lemon juice and of course a tablespoon of Tahini

Monday

Fish cobbler

Tuesday

Prawn linguini

Wednesday

Steak and chips

Thursday

Chicken Kiev

Friday

Home made burgers

Today is my school Inset day so I am going back and relaxing , plans include glamorous house work, popping to the post office and a rumble in the charity shop. I'm feeling quite relaxed , I have been watching Bob the wood pigeon from my kitchen window . Bob is basically a flying house brick , he waits for the little birds to finish on the bird feeder then bobs about the lawn. He has much grace as a dancing hippo in Fantasia.

Primula Chicken Potato Slice

It unites us.

It divides us.

We like it.

We love it.

We loathe it.

Food.

We just need to demystify food , and get ourselves out of a slump.

How about a simple recipe with just 4 ingredients ?

Ingredients

4 chicken breasts

4 large potatoes sliced

A glug of olive oil

Squeeze of primula

Method

Preheat the oven to 190 c

Slice the potatoes into thinnish slices

Next put a layer of them on the bottom of a rectangular dish

Add a glut of oil over the potato slices.

Then add the chicken

Squeeze some primula

After this add another layer of potato

Just brush some oil onto the top later of potato

Cook for about 50 minutes

Longer if necessary and do keep checking as you want the potato crispy not burnt.

Disclosure ~ I was sent some primula to use as I wish and this is what I came up with a quick tea with minimal ingredients.

The Six Million Dollar Blogger

Blogging for me is a friendship I never thought I would have , true I've had my up down and roundabout moments.

I was broken in fact for a while , I was lost and there's so many people that so need to thank.  Thank because they've rebuilt me from worry boots up to the hair that has a life of its own.

I'm pitching to you person to person , blogger to blogger that hereby I'll never be afraid to be the person I am.

I'm the six million dollar blogger and I've been rebuilt!

If you saw me last year I was on the edge

I'm back ...

I'm good to the bone

Poppy Fields Forever

If you're going to unplug just do it.

The world's pace is 100 miles an hour and it seems that many have lost their way in the world , normally when I go out I like to feel as if what I see is just my world and no one else's . I can see you are stressed and feeling out of place in the world so I'll let you share mine.

I'm reaching out my hand.

I didn't take my phone with me today , so I couldn't document my steps , check my email and check the news and the worse one ~ stare at my emails as if my emails are a kind of demonic soothsayer. I did check my emails when I got home and asides an offer of marriage from Nigeria there really wasn't too much that had changed.

I'm reflective coming up to what is a turbulent time.

I've been stressed to the eye balls.

I'm on a level.

I'm reflective.

The countryside is my calming balm of a feral mood that I see myself in sometimes .

People ask me.

" Are you Ok ?"

They say this a lot.

Even when I'm as cool as a cucumber people ask , I think I've been so flighty it is the first impression I must ultimately give off.

We need to stop.

My minds eye is always looking off into the middle distance , and quite guilty I'll whip out what ever camera I have to hand and snap away.

How about for once.

We stop in that field of poppies waving in the air and look out into the middle distance together.

No need to worry alone we can do this together.

We can connect and ground ourselves with nature , I can hear it calling us

Let's go.

Let our eyes have a moveable feast.

What Cats All About ?

Rage against the machine

It probably really wasn't the wised idea to watch Hannibal before bed.

Then the fridge conspired against me and I was attacked by cheese, trout and a sausage a timely if cruel reminder that I need to clean the other half of the fridge. Fridge cleaning if you din't know is going out is the new going out as described by Cosmoplotitian ! And another thing I have discoverd that Vegemite is not marmite in no shape of form , it is in fact the devils nether regions * yuck

The toaster decided to join in on the anarchy of my morning ...

Dear Toaster How can you slightly burn one side but not other? The fridge has already ganged up on me Don't join the appliance revolution

Now feeding the cats

That surely couldn't go wrong !

Cats have the habit of doing completely the opposite of what you want them do , pretty much like the contents of my fridge really. Now Jack won't to go out the cat flap but will choose to go out the patio doors or front door instead , why because he can. Cats I have learnt have no rules , as I am typing this I am eating flat pop corn as jack decided to sit in a box of popcorn ( sealed packets I may add) but he some what flattened the pop corn trying to get comfortable.

Then Rollie decided he would sit upon the arm of the chair,

"No"

"Get down please "

"I said DOWN"

This is a guide from Felix how to please your cat ....

Disclsure ~ My house is in chaos , the cat is sitting in the cardboard box, and I think there is a mouse under the dishwasher. Thank you felix for the treat and the tea mug

Just Let Sleeping Cats Lie

Blog as you wish.

I am one of those bloggers who doesn't quite fit into certain camps and that is ok it really is , I am lyrical in my use of photography and others appreciate what I do as well you only have to look upon my instragram feed. Then why do I feel the pressure to do this to do that , I just want to blog at my own speed.

Enough with the life hacks , enough with telling me how to do this that and the other.

We are moving too fast.

Why can't stuff just be gradual a life discovery , a being a collection.

A clique I am clearly not , thank heavens.

I mean the other day I was accepted on to a cat food assignment for the cat not me as humans should never ever eat cat food, and then the cat and I were dropped like a hot potato .We were sad for a millisecond ( well actually an hour or so ) the 'parameters had changeded' sigh. You  know what it didn't stop my cat being fed we are not reliant on blogging hand outs we blog as we feel.

Currently I have just read something which has the line " people see 100 friends on Facebook an achievement "

Really  ?

I see beautiful birds flying as an achievement !

I suppose ?!

I think perhaps we can get a little too hung up on social media or into social media.

I will continue to blog my own way .

Like me .

Loathe  me.

Love me.

I blog as and when the feeling takes me on.

Below is a cats approach to blogging.

Then inspiration strikes .....

Then the relax takes over.

Installing Sunshine

It is raining again ..

I'm not going to let myself get down.

I'm not going to do the chasing of people.

Blogging crisis of faith I had this about 24 hours ago ~ sounds like a plot for an action series.

I suspect it's because I'm coming up to a year of my breakdown.

Don't worry I'm chipper.

I just wish friends came to me a little more ..

Why am I the one that goes to them ?

Odd I know as a solitary soul !

I suspect these ramblings are making as much sense as prunes and custard.

I'm finding my little world is spiralling out , not me but those I know.

Time to seek out new friendships ?

I'm not a fuzzy bunny type and I'm very shy ~ everything I do is out my comfort zone.

I could have slapped a motivational quote on the picture down below but you know what ~ motivation is sometimes within the picture !

I'm quite possibly at some sort of crossroads ~ I'm not giving up blogging oh no.

I just need something else to seek.

How do you repurpose yourself ?

Spritzing Up My Afternoon

I have just come home , made a cup of tea and all is right with the world.

The teen is chilling after his exams and has made a pot noddle ~ he did GCSE food tech but I'm not judging him ~

The sun is shining doesn't that make a difference to the world heart and soul.

Cheery flowers are enough to make anyone smile and I was lucky enough to win some from Ready Flowers , I'm really awful at treating myself ~ why is that? So these flowers are a welcome change , I find it really hard to treat myself and what I do have I get quite precious over. If I lose something it can be the end of the world even if it's a lip balm strange I know ,I like my world being so very calm.

I do love adventure.

I love tea.

I can feel my concentration levels returning.

I've just got to get through these 2 weeks.

It's been a long old slog.

My silliness is part of my charm but also it's a defence mechanism.

Judgey pants need not apply to be my friend.

So now the garden beckons I'll open my patio doors and tip toe onto the decking and keep and eye out for the brave Robin.

I'm looking forward to trying one of these new J2O spritz drinks which is a lightly sparkling soft drink from J2O . The new drinks are a blend of delectable fruits and delicate bubbles, I love when bubbles tickle my nose ! J2O spritz is a light refreshing drink perfect for any social ocassion , perfect for picnics ( but be careful with the glass and do take and recycle any empty bottles)

J20 Spritz comes in three delicious flavours , expertly blended the flavours are pears and raspberry ,Apple and watermelon, and peach and apricot.

Available for all major supermarkets rrp £2.09 for 275 ml and £2.35 for a 750 ml sharing bottle.

I am all about the posh on a budget and if you put the J20 spritz into a champagne flute then one 275 ml bottle will lovingly serve 2 people.

The book I am reading is The Picnic Cook book by Laura Mason which I won , the J20 Spritz was sent to me.

Dislosure I organised the sunshine to shine just me for only for me it is all mine * not sharing

Snapshot 5 Minutes Of A Cat

It is Thursday.

Just so you are all aware.

Today what have I planned ?

Well since I have been banned from the catnip.

I now sit and watch the birds.

Perhaps I should write a book?

Lifts leg unceremoniously and kills the mood .... Ps me the cat lifting the leg not the human bean ...

Scouting For Picnics And The Basket Company Giveaway

I love nature.

I love the patterns and shapes.

I love the beams of light that end of the day .

I love photography.

For the stark look of a pylon I feel the world is balanced when I take a picture of countryside and nature.

" Late as it was,
The early bird still sang, the meadow hay
Still buttercupped and daisied, sky was new."

Seamus Heaney

Choosing the ideal picnic spot

When picking a picnic spot you have to think about who is in your group , no point picking somewhere rural if there isn't toilets some where close by. Luckily I can nip back home from the countryside I can be tree to home in under 2 minutes ! it is that close how I love being near the countryside.

City parks can make ideal picnics spots take my park for instance backs onto a field full of poppies !

Even if your park doesn't back on to a field full of luscious swaying poppies then they are still beautiful tranquil places ! You can combine a picnic with reading , family games the possibilities are endless. If your picnic spot is on top of a hill then make sure what you carry up there is light and do bring all your rubbish down with you. When picnicking do prepare for the elements ~ the good old favourite the pac a mac should be an essential in every picnic basket ! And do wear appropriate footwear I do deny I was wearing sandals the other day when I got lost and when I took a shortcut across the field and got attacked by a thistle.

Also respect your environment and those around you, it goes without saying.

You may recall how I took myself in the colder weather for a picnic , you see it doesn't matter what the weather is you can always be prepared for a picnic , even if the weather is so bad that you have to have the picnic inside.

I can tell you that The Basket Company have kindly agreed to give away a picnic basket away for 4 people and I have to say I am rather jealous. please remember that if you win that you will please take me on the picnic ~ promise !?

You can visit The Basket Company on Google + You can say HI to them on Twitter ! they are also on Youtube  and not forgetting Pinterest

I've caved in and gone all birdy ~ think I'm channelling my inner Bill Oddie. Who knew there was such a selection of bird food for errm birds ~ Robin mix , blue tit mix etc . There's more choice that a sweet pick and mix.

I have also started watching Springwatch and I so enjoy #30dayswild the today day saw me upon the the poppy field you never did see something more stunning in your life.

So upon a Cherry orchard I stood looking upon a Poppy field.

Empowerment Comes In All Shapes and Forms

All the world can pass me yet when the weather is perfect ; the prefect storm of weather I call it , I yearn to be out and about . To be free as I was in those long hot summer days when life's pleasure was a copy of the Bunty and a funny foot. There's much to be had of equality and the need for this girl can ; this girl could when asked at school about presents for Christmas my answer was

" Why a 10 speed speed blue racing bike "

This drew gasps from my fellow classmates as particularly the boys as surely I should want a nice pink practical bike no doubt with sparkles. I got my 10 speed racing bike and we cycled everywhere together i was very much free when I was on my bike I was empowered : the bike was a Raleigh Wisp.

I was Bunty reader and recently I was thrilled to buy a 1980 Bunty from Kedleston Hall second hand book shop where they are selling old books to raise funds for some flooring they need to replace.

So I got a Bunty annual and I have been slipping back in time to when I used to read it , many comics were around then mainly ending in a Y .Life can be lashings of ginger bear and lemon drizzle cake , in fact I have just had some lemon drizzle cake from the staff room alas no ginger beer. The cake is back in the staff room  well healthy living  week was SO last week !

Empowerment for me at the minute is routine I would still love my bicycle with a basket , I am going to do my adult colouring , I will plan some recipes, I will order some Pimms . I will also get out and enjoy the countryside I love going different directions tonight I think I will head towards buttercup meadow.

Walking In To June

Here it is June and whilst walking back from work I spotted this snap dragon growing in the village church wall., love that nature clings on to sheer impossibilities.

Friday 5 June 2015

Joseph Joseph Knife LockBlock

I have just got back form work and I am here typing this , not knowing what to say my mind is blank. What could I blog about I know a cup of tea I could blog about the cup of tea I am drinking it is in a mug but the mug isn't very exciting oooh the weather I could blog about the weather.

As soon as I type about the weather it as if the weather gods have heard me and the sky is pitch black and threatening to rain.

OOH I know I could tell you about my friend Mr robin that comes to visit me bob bob bobbing into my garden the same robin that visits me when I go visiting me in the woods. As I can't seem to capture the pesky little fellow on film then doubt you will believe me on that.

I could tell you about my son doing his GCSE's and how I deliver instructions to him when I leave for work like they do when you are on a plane a sort of flight safety information but with a house.

"The exits are here here and here"

I will tell you of my love for Joseph Joseph * puts straight up I wrote about a potato masher , sure sexy good looks and functionality I am talking abut this with passion as I LOVE it. Ooh there you go I found something to talk about  if James Bond could choose a kitchen what would he chose . I believe he would choose a Joseph Joseph knife block with its secret safety feature.

The safety feature is designed to stop children getting hold of knives and this is a brilliant feature as you have to have your eyes peeled when children are in the the kitchen.

The knife block I think you will agree looks fabulous like a secret agent ( as was pointed out in the comments ) , The knife block with out the knives costs (£60 )and with the knives costs (£150)  the slots for the knives are universal ones so no need to worry if your own knives will fit.

The knives can be only released by adult hands no little ones getting hold of knives when you aren't looking. The knives can only be released by adult hands by holding onto the release buttons on the side which is ace. Watch this youtube video and you will get the right idea.

Disclosure I was sent this for review , however James bond was not included * sob  I would loved to have been shaken and stirred.

Coming Up to D Day

It's crunch time.

It's June.

Again.

That time of the year when things didn't go well for me.

I'll say this yes it is my depression , yes it was my depression , no I am not playing the victim never will do.

I feel I have to say things to justify how I feel , You see I am dealing with my depression through self care and just telling people when I am feeling so so.

I am not blessed with the gift of everyone go ing oooh wow at my blog posts ~ maybe on occasion.

I know my self worth and it is high.

I have had time to relax , reflect and respect myself.

Time is a healer they say.

The date is coming up when I caused people to turn their backs on me. The more I tried to explain the worse it got and what it is IS what it is !

Everyone has a battle they are fighting and I can't hate it is not in my nature, I treat such people as I would the horrible radish with disdain. You can still tolerate people even if there is disdain and that is what sets us apart.

The blogging has helped me though.

Taking time to listen to me allows me time to heal.

The doctor the other week just said "what pills do you want ? mmmm mmmmm"

And told me "Sorry your appointment is only so long "

I choose not to have pills , I don't want this.

Time I choose time but sometimes we don't have enough time for each other.

And we should that person could very well need it .

That person could be me.

That person could be you.

PS I am Ok , but as it is my blog I am SO allowed to write what I like.

30 Days Wild Connecting with Nature

Yesterday I connected with the wild with nature , I communed as they say with nature  , I did not get lost ,

Hidden countryside
Never having the same adventure

yet travelling into nature feels like a homecoming and leaving is very much tinged with a sense of loss.

Country Lane
Wandering down the lane

I breathe in the soft summer heavy with the promise of warm weather , I wander to the dip and dive of the swooping house martins that provide an aerial spectacular, I am instilled with a state of the deepest, calmest joy.

I find when I wander that I never find the same route twice, I am absorbed in the environment , with this I have ever felt fitter or more full of Strength and hope.

Skip through the buttercups.

10 Things I Want To Do In The Good Ole Usa

Ten things I want to do in the good ole USA

I've been to the USA more times then you shake a Mickey Mouse tail at , 4 times to the spiritual home of said mouse a magical mouse that snares you in and won't let you explore out as carton bluebird patrol !. I love Disney very much but now I want to see more of the USA , I've seen New York and Macy's parade , adventures calls to me much like the American dream. And I've always wanted to channel my inner Bill Bryson and myself as the new lyrical intrepid wanderer.

1. To go to a diner and have coffee and of course pie ; if you haven't seen Twin Peaks then you must , pie and coffee are as American as they come. Cliched hell yeah but so what it's like us British and afternoon tea.

2. Visit the spot where Martin Luther King spoke from when he gave his "I have a dream " speech nothing is more important than fragile human freedoms. And in August I'm off to Washington DC so this is a certainty !!

3. New England in fall ( our autumn) I am most fortunate to have seen the sweeping colour tapestry of autumnal colour up near Niagara Falls.

4. The Bridges of Madison County having seen the film which I loved and the fact it is about a photographer and the picture perfect bridges. This situation makes me love it all the more and the bridges are frames to undulating vistas.

9 Boston It goes without saying I ow;ld have to have my own Boston tea party, sample the Boston Freedom trail, Boston harbour , just to be immersed in the sights, smells and sounds.

10. LA Bonkers but to see the Hollywood twinkle and see the glittzy faux paux of some would be quite an amusing people watching experience.
