Be Intrepid In Your Life

Be Intrepid

Now as an autistic person that can be hard but I’ve always been intrepid before my diagnosis as I really do love adventure. I however will not be Suba diving unless some mobster gives me concrete boots nor will
I be skydiving out a plane freewheeling towards the ground at breakneck speed .

Standing on the edge of greatness I spy the mighty Monsal head and this is what is so wonderful about leaving in the country of Derbyshire and having access to the Peak District , wonderful is flung about your very eyes as if an artist is in motion crating a painting just for you. As you know I love getting out and about and I shall walk does of the Monsal head at some point but please do tell me what adventures you'd like to see me go on and I will try my very best to do them.

Walking Is The Best Kindness to Yourself

Kindess is kindness

Kindness is not a fashion hashtag

People spout on about kindness but don't practise it themselves ,I was once some years ago told I should not be takin pictures when I was off with depression and that people might get the wrong idea when I was out and about in the one air taking pictures . People are so quick to jump on the #BeKind hashtag when say a celebrity sadly dies but they quick enough in another swipe of social media to critisce someone for something else when all someone is trying to do is to protect their mental health .I love my photography and getting out about , the other day with my husband we climbed a mountain ... ok it was a really really big hill but it felt like a mountain and the sense of achievement in climbing it gets back down again without falling down on my bottom was huge. ( PS my bottom is not huge ! ) . I have really got into walking and hiking and nature and the outside are breath therapy partners.

I love the rolling hills , the green and then when it changes with the season it is magical to come back and look , it is truly like an artists picture because you never know what you're going to get.Walking is brilliant for mental health and it is not a hidden secret and anyone can do it even if you need some kind of support.Walking can be free but the costs you can occur can be decent walking shows and walking gear, I have some Mountain Warehouse walking boots and I have already got my money out of them as they've enabled me to go places I previously couldn't go with my old walking boots. The next item I need I think is a new walking coat and of course it would have to be yellow, and no walk is complete without myself wearing a bobble hat!

Why I Love Blogging

Why do I love blogging you might well ask ?

I love blogging because it brings me in touch with my feelings and brings me close to people I have never met and some indeed I have , you might think that brings a sense of falseness and if you do it wrong it can bring a sense of falseness but do it right and the world is your oyster. The world is your oyster unless like me you have a slight sea food allergy but I digress as I often  do . I fell out of favour with blogging I suppose probably due to this toddler tantrum that is the covid pandemic  , I mean you can stop now covid but alas no !

I sometimes stare at a blank page wondering what I should indeed right wondering if my words are overreaching anyone in this digital age as people are raving it all up on til Tok and instagram and blogging is starting to some a little old fashioned but til Tok and instagram are seen as the fashion fashion hipsters of the miracle modern age. There is something real about putting your words down on a page and because the words are tangible I truly believe people can connect with them more. Push asides the reviews and dig down for the true beauty of human life and you will see how mazing us blogger can be.

Blogging is now as retro as the handwritten letter and this is my blog love letter to you all and I am not ever ever going away .

The Very Merry Christmas Game - Review

Ad

Christmas is sernominous with playing board games and it is I am sure that is some sort of law at Christmas that you must play some type of board game  and there is none more fun than The Very Merry Christmas game. I love traditional games and I don't think at times traditional games are plated enough it has to be a very special game to tear the youth of today away from thrift electronic devices. I played so many board games with my family growing up and it was a happy time doing so even though I didn't always win.Creating memories is what board games do and the love of them is based on from generation to generation.

This year I have the Very Merry Christmas Game to review ( it is priced at only £20 at Amazon ) and as they say a board game is for life not just for Christmas ! The box itself is very eye catching and you might think it is going to be of a novelty and flash in the pan. As with any game the more you play it the easier it gets , I have played Monopoly for years and I am still surprised when I win first prize in the beauty contest.

Essentially The Very Merry Christmas Game is for a minimum of two players but to make the most of it I do suggest playing with at least four players or double up into teams. What happens I hear you ask well , each person or team picks a coloured playing piece before locating the relevant fireplace on the board. Each player has a stocking ( how Christmasy is that ! ) the stocking needs to be filled with high valued Christmas presents in order to win the game and they start off with two mystery cards placed in the stocking.

By rolling the dice, each player progresses around the board where they will find a host of squares offering different activities and interactions. You can sneak a peek in your stocking (or the stocking of someone else), collect presents to place in your own stocking or that of another player, or pull a cracker with a player of your choosing in the hoping of stealing away or exchanging one of their high value presents with one of your low value ones.

A very nice touch I think  is that players can land on a carol-singing square and when they do they have to sing a Christmas song and no song can be performed twice during the course of one game , and the catch is if your  singing doesn’t please the other players, you can lose one of your presents. For those that don’t like singing in public, make it your mission to land on the party hat square so you can wear the Christmas part hat and be immune from having to sing.

Once all of the stockings are full, each player can turn over their present cards and find out what’s in their stocking. If someone has a single sprout card, they automatically lose and are out of the game but if someone has two sprout cards they automatically win. If there are no sprout cards, or no one has two, the rest of the players add up the stars denoted on each present card and the one with the highest number of stars wins.

The Very Merry Christmas Game might be a simple game but it is fun and as a family enjoyed playing it so much and played it again and again. We  laughed so much when playing it and it’s perfect to play with the family, as it’s very family friendly. This is the perfect game to be playing over the festive season and I  can't recommend it highly enough , it is perfect for that sparkle of Christmas fun this Christmas

Being Kind Of Heart Always

I headed into town yesterday for a few bits and bobs from good old Marks and Spencer and whilst just pursuing the chilled items I happened to be spoken to by a old gentleman. He told me about his he could believe the costs of items and how people could afford to feed their children especially with some of the prices of food . He also told me about himself and how he’d been a bricklayer since the age of 16 long before the age of health and safety , he was now 83.

He told me he’d list his wife some years back , Ed exchanged words s d he was happy I think for the warmth of human words . It really doesn’t take much to be kind of heart , kind of hearing and just a good Al round egg .

Bolstered by being good of heart and good of soul , I thought I’d get down to some gold old leaf kicking .

Make Your Own Prawn Chicken Pesto Toast

I improvised making my own prawn toast , it was relatively quick and easy and I am pretty sure you could embellish it more than I could . I had my mine with pea and ham soup because I am as ever the culinary rebel and they do say rules are there to be broken but having said that Pineapple absolutely does not belong on pizza.

Ingredients

Now I know you're meant to use egg white but I didn't have any eggs

I had

cooked prawns

ready cooked chicken

I had no Spring either

Pesto

Method

Whizz the cooked prawns and cooked chicken pieces together with some pesto about 4 teaspoons of pesto .

Then spread on bread ( I don't cut off the crusts )

Then plonk in the oven for around 10 to 15 minutes at about 180c  . Keep an eye on it.

Make Adipose For A Halloween Doctor Who Party

Making the Adipose is quite simple but please supervise small children round them.

The Adipose's party upon Matt Smith's Fez and who can blame them?

They are friendly but I think it was dangerous of them to come to the party !!

You'll need large white marshmallows, tiny white ones and cocktail sticks.

1. Break a cocktail stick into two , repeat as necessary .

2. Stick the broken cocktail stick into your large white marshmallow ( being careful of any splintering bits)

3. Stick on the little marshmallows .

4. Finish off with the arms and decorate with an icing tube !

5 . An Adipose just ready to walk away !!

Do make sure no one swallows a cocktail stick SO please do be careful round young children .

Love Leggings The Perfect Christmas Gift

#AD

Over at Love Leggings, they sell high-quality leggings for women and children.

After over a year of staying inside, staying comfortable has become even more important than ever. And that makes a soft and cosy pair of love leggings the perfect way to show you care.

Leggings are a staple in most women’s wardrobe and with 8 collections to choose from, you’re sure to find something for any style. From classic colours to more contemporary offerings, our comfortable high waisted fits to lightweight crops, you'll delighted by leggings that are soft, comfortable and completely non-see-through.

But what makes their leggings special? Well, their  customers really do think they’re the most comfortable, non-see-through and stylish leggings out there. They are so proud to be rated Excellent on Trustpilot with more than 12,000 reviews : https://www.trustpilot.com/review/loveleggings.com

My greatest bugbear with leggings previously was that they had no pockets and even worse is the faux pockets I mean what are they all about .It is either pockets or no pockets and I vote for a world with pockets .This is why I was so grateful that Love Leggings offered me the opportunity to review a pair of their Treggings and the Breaking news is that they come complete with pockets.

I need pickets in my life because not only do I happen to collect random stuff on my travels 9 not an elephant I do assure you you ) but leaves or shiny conkers and the randomness of the world that delights me.But I  also need a pocket to carry my inhaler because I am not inclined to carry a bag for just my inhaler or bank card / phone. I only carry really what I need to carry I very much love to feel not encumbered but lugging a huge bag around the place.

  • They are comfortable treggigns because of their 4 way stretch fabric and a non restrictive waist pant that won't cut into you after long days out and about or in the office
  • They are very much tailored to you and are very much smart worker or going out smart , they're so adaptable. I even gardened in mine and then went out to dinner!
  • They are made with a quality fabric that keeps looking smart and with simple to care for instructions they're look fabulous for ages.
  • Prefect fit for size 6-26 and if they give you the confidence to shift down size without fear

I wore mine to the shops and a friend commented how slim I looked and they has given me such a new found confidence. The cost of the Treggings is £25 and I think that is money well spend and there is free shipping with orders over £50 and I know you'll love them as much as I do.

The Borrowed Beauty From Beyond

The borrowed beauty from beyond is a sight to behold and up there with the 8th wonder of the world and where can you see this wonder ?WHY my back garden of course and it is stunning and have something just appear from no where and you have not even planned it , the best things in life are often unplanned the spontaneity if just the best ( as long as it is all good mind ! )

The borrowed beauty is only here for a while and that makes us appreciate it all the more , to often we take what we see for granted in life , the world is fast and we jsut need to slow down once in a while. The colours of the borrowed beauty will vary be it the oft glow of the copper Autumn to the tropical colours that pack a punch in this cold weather.

NO I haven't seen Squid Game

I have no idea what is trendy or what is not trendy and can you even say trendy now , or is it the world sic ? no idea , I think of myself as pretty much up to speed over stuff but somehow allude me such as being able to open a tin or Cornbeef .I know there is a popular new program called Squid Game out which seems  all the rage, I think #SquidGame I would do rather well at after all I was at school in the 70's and 80's 90's .Butt the thing that really foxed me today was an emoji of a red flag 🚩and I was foxed as to why it was on twitter posts and it was seems it is a Tin Tok craze that has spread to Twitter to indicate something that is not false . Well that is what I gather from the meme dictionary for the explanation of this issue

The youth of today know nothing of the struggles of loading a Spectrum 48 K game that my friend is a true life experience and I bet you won't see that on Squid Game either. Neither has the youth of today had to do PE in their pants and vest at Primary school if they happen to forget their PE.

A Friend Who In Spas You !

There is nothing better than friendship and to pick up where you left off then than my friend is the best friendship of all they say a friend is only one letter from being a fiend! But a friend you can go to a spa with and have wail of a time with is second to none and a friendship where you can talk endlessly then also have periods of silence and just talk with your eyebrows is unique I say .No that I am any sort of Roger Moore but I am open to being James Bond if he swap his Martini shaken not stirred for a nice cup of tea .

There is nothing like tea and friendship and maybe one of your 5 a day ( in liquid form ) everything in moderation of course but never ever friendship in moderation.

Champneys Forest De Mere Review

I was lucky enough to win an over night Spa break to Champneys Forest De Mere as normally such trips would be a little behind my control but win it I did as I was so glad of it after the hellish time we have all had .And while Covid is never going to go away and we have to learn to live with it.Clawing it back how we used to live our lives it truly is a remedy for the soul. I will start with the negative and just get it out the way, I was disappointed that the thalassotherapy out of action as for only £10 that is a water treatment that is pure heaven and not to be missed. Also there was a few other things shut but nothing major and certainly nothing to really impact your stay other than the  thalassotherapy the only other diapoitnemt was that the lift was out of order and there was no pre warning of this unlike the thalsostherpay being out of order. I think like many a business and obviously having been shut during the pandemic there is the approach of hope then repair then ongoing maintenance. Other areas however were well maintained and I had no problem feeling that that Covid cleaning routines were top notch in fact they are one of the best I have seen in businesses and that gives me the confidence in recommending them as a brand.

The Spa

Great facilities and very relaxing and you can do as little or as much as you like you are as they say master of your own destiny and you could even discover something you thought you might not like. The spa is very relaxing and you Do get the problem with people saving a lounger with there towel but I say just remover it if they have not returned in an hour. I would like to see someone keeping the poolside a little more free for water ( yes ) I know it is a swimming pool ) but I am king to walk like Bambi on ice when walking round it. Great experience rooms especially the steam room, ice cave and rain shower combo. One of rain shower combos was stuck on one program but I suspect if someone switched it on and off again it would be fine !

The Room

The room was superb and loved that it was out the ground floor and it opened out onto a little area where you could sit at a table and chair and in summer I think this would be the bees knees. There was the odd cobweb but nothing too drastic and some of the led lighting needed putting back up but nothing drastic unless you're a complete diva.

Restaurent

I cannot fault the level of service at the restaurant and this was where I feel the most staff were focused as the service and covid cleaning regimes were top notch.the food is well balanced and enough you're there for a real and to be healthy you're not there for an all you can eat buffet. Breakfast however was a continental affair and there is a surcharge if you want something cook but if you did want to pay it really is not going to break the bank. The chicken Cesar salad was a little weird in using chicken tikka instead of plain chicken but it was still nice once you got used to it. Perhaps if they used a different sauce then they would be onto sure fire winner with a new type of Cesar salad.

And of course the company was excellent ( I have told been told to say this ! ) and I am so very glad that I had a great and loyal travelling companion . Alas this time there was no gangsters in our visits but we can jolly well write a book on our collective experiences . I am very grateful to Jane for allowing to stay at Chez Willis prior to our Spa adventure.

War Of The Worlds The Sounds Of Hope

I am sitting here in the dark typing this and it is not through choice because of wither the fuel crisis or I am watching the pennies because of the energy price hike. I am sitting here is the dark because it is restful to my heart mind and soul as much as the season of Autumn is.I have date to fire up Alexa much to my slight annoyance as my battles with Alexa are a whole new blog post.I love repetition in what I do as it is soothing to me so that is why I am listening to War of the Worlds, I was that child who always listened to it as I loved the spooky spine chilling feeling it gave me.The melaconoly laced with hope is right up my street and thought I don't really like the unexpected I know where I am with Jeff Waynes World of the Worlds. it really does what it says on the tin and it is a cracking album and I do have it on vinyl cd and probably cassette tape.

Hope is in the sound of what you love be it music or reading to yourself , hope is the invisible thread of life and for to long I have not allowed myself to hope or hoped that I would indeed be myself.

The Hug Of Autumn

The warm hug of Autumn throws its branches round you in a crinkle and glow as the leaves gently fall , Autumn is here but for a brief time . Coming in on the warm last glowing embers of summer that we so gladly bask in , ablaze every where are the colours of Autumn .A satisfying reassuring treacle of colour runs up and down the height of the trees.Autumn is a hug for the deepest of our souls and we need it so need it , Autumn repairs us and prepares us for the harshness of Winter and Autumn is still left behind as Winter falls with such Autumn leaf frozen in time till the Spring of our dreams gently starts to thaw.

What sets Autumn apart from other seasons is the richness of the reds browns and green all merging together as if an artists has blended the colours on purpose in some artistic nuance.Autumn nights do take on a cold touch at times but wrapped up in a jumper and good shoes then you're all set to explore and oh my I have missed the explore . I am enjoying so much the explore of the Uk as I see the everything in a unique way and if I am excited about what I se then I have a good outlook on life and my mental health can be evenly balanced . Life can be so very hard at times but I am always up for the fight and of late I have had to fight so very hard. This is why I am glad of the hug of Autumn it has got my soul and can eave its magic on repairing it.

Cats Rule The World

We all know cats rule the world and we are merely their servants to do their bidding ! With a cat you must even ask permission to leave your own house or rather their house.

Cats turn up everywhere

Here is a cat giving my husband a guided tour at Lacock Abbey.

Rumours are abound who will be the new Doctor Who and especially with all the current budget cuts at the BBC

We just would not want cats not ruling the world as cats are really part of our eco system.I bought my cat an expensive bed just so it had the choice not to sleep in it .

Victoria Vintage Tea Room s Draycott

Tea is very much balm for the soul , in a world where "Be Kind " is spouted left right and centre they're are some that do not live by their very own words . But tea and kindness can win through tea promotes such great heart warming comaradarity and it allows you to talk and to be yourself and tea will never never censure the words that you need to say.

This is why the Victoria Vintage tea room Draycott is bliss in a tea cup and not a storm ! They serve homemade food and tea in the homemade English tea room way.The only thing that is missing is Miss Marple solving one of her murder mystery.

The Blogging World

Blogging has changed so much in the two years I have been doing it and I suppose I should be all guns blazing and pumping out the competitions to you lot out there.Bit I don't have any competitions and its at this point you might stop reading and then leave me wondering what's my worth in this blogging /infleuncer game but no I keep going as blogging from the beginning till now has always been about me and that might sound egotistical but it s far far from it. I do this for me and if I help you along the way there that is another string to my bow.

In my early days you will have seen many reviews and these are now very sparse but this gives me more room to be me even though with reviews my personality or that of my cat comes across. Expectations can be a good thing but they can also push a unseen seen pressure upon the blogger/infleuncer  ..

I’m slowly getting back into blogging again hence this post , in days gone by there was a fashion / fad to slow blog but this is something I’ve always been party to.

The Walls We Put Up

The walls we put up in our isolation at times wherever there is a pandemic or not and our joy wants to spill  into the colour of the world . We seek solace in the quiet of our times but continual silence is friends to no one .

Seeking out to break those walls but with the ability to seek out the colour , to feel the tickle of long grass on your hand as you go for a long country walk .To see the joy of the swooping swift’s as they do have a joyful glee on their faces as they go past you at the speed of light.

Being Autistic stuff is hard , applying myself is hard but the release of myself into the world of colour is joy upon joy .To hear the sheep in the green fields as I sit watching a cricket match on a summers day with nothing but a cool breeze upon my face .

I seek the colour and audacity of a Hollyhock just to grow where it damn well pleases , inconvenient places is where they seed and grow their joy.

Creating Your Own Oasis Of Reflection

I'll be honest it feels like the going to hell in a handcart at the moment , and the world is chaotic and oh my SO I am creating my own oasis of reflection . I realise oasis of reflection sounds like a gweneth Paltrow candle that would sell of a shed load of money but thankfully it isn't. You will know that I do like to be out and about and that has been hard in a and out of lockdowns but I have managed it where I can.I love a wandering and exploring and if that is couple with architecture , charity shop and a nice cup of tea then all the better.

Think of something you love and focus on that , so your ice cream could be your focus and  could take a picture of that .The idea behind it all is to focus on something that brings you joy. Now currently  I like visiting all churches and we are combining that with looking at the gravestones of my husbands relatives , though at some point we will get to my side. Getting outside is essential I believe as it allows you to have that oasis of reflection for when times getting a bit turbulent it is a little legacy to yourself I truly believe.

The other day I went to the Diddly Squat farm shop which is the farm shop of that there Jeremey Clarkson and yes the queues are long but if you know me I never do anything without other adventures being involved.Yes you might think Jeremy Clarkson is s bit of a plonker but the series on Amazon is funny and there are many a character on it including Gerald and Kaleb. Going on from Diddly squat farm shop we went onto to Chipping Norton and it is a quiseential beautiful Cotswold town that has free parking ! And I like nothing better than free , free is good it enables me to go spent that parking money in a local shop in the town thus putting money into the local economy.

Saturday 17 July 2021

Picnic Up At Diddly Squat Farm

Yesterday myself and my husband went up to Diddly squat farm  and we did take our own picnic to eat after popping into the shop . You could buy food there but there’s no need as you can take your own and soak up the views . Of course you can buy from the shop snd put money into the local economy from shopping in the local area too .

There are toilets at Diddly squat farm but they aren’t disabled friendly as there’s quite a step up but least there’s toilets .My husband did get a t shirt and I got an empty milk bottle but everyone was going wild for the bee juice and milkshake s.And of course the really rude named candles!

A trip to the Diddly squat farm is not going to replace your weekly shop it is one half novelty and one half supporting farmers mixed with a a celebrity. I think the main thing is to explore the area of the Cotswolds we went on from Diddly Squat Farm to Chipping Norton which is a really quaint town with free parking .

Making Spare Cash In A Pandemic

Making spare cash is never easy especially a pandemic but I have to say I have tried various different places over the years and always seem to come back to Ebay . I did try Etsy and Sphook but I honestly find Ebay the easiest place to sell as it is a quick upload and write of a description and boom you're all done. The trick is with Ebay to to list when they have special listing offers as that is when I tend to to plonk on all my stuff that I don't need any more.

Currently I am selling some stuff on behalf of my Father in law as he has now gone into a nursing home and every penny helps towards the items he needs in a nursing home.Sorting out a relatives items can be a very emotional thing to do and you might turn to a house clearance place if you've a small family. So the top tips for when clearing out a home are to divide everything into categories from vinyl to dvds. Now dvds on ebay don't tend to go for much and you might then have a go at Music Magpie but you're going to have to zap quite a few dvd to get to the £5 pound minimum they do also take other tech so you will have to weigh your options up against ebay.

If you're clearing out a property and find videos you might think go no one wants them anymore but it is worth look through what you've got for example I came across a "Song of the South " video and this a a now deleted video as it not seen as a acceptable in todays society but there are still collectors for such items. I have now put the "Song of the South "on Ebay so fingers crossed it makes cash for my Father in law.

Now the Pandemic restrictions have started to lift my husband bought himself a new camera off Ebay and so he has put his old camera on ebay to pay for this one .My husband loves his photography but during the restrictions that has been little opportunity on and off but hopefully now he can get out there will all guns blazing.

Normanton On Soar

Normanton On Soar ( meaning Norwegian village on the Soar )is a delightful village . I was there with my husband looking at gravestones tracing his ancestors. And I was taken back what a pretty area it was with a whole hosts of walks to go on another time.

As we sat in the pub Plough Inn garden watching the swift’s dip and turn over the river , we also saw barges tootle by and what a grand life it looks waving to people and a much calmer pace of life . Also there was wild swimmers and a rower. Buzzard and a Heron flew by it was a lovely time even thought it was a tad grey . But that’s the trick to make the best of even a grey day .

The Plough inn has a great sized garden and a comprehensive well priced menu , I shared a Beef baguette and chips with my husband and there was the customary salad on the side .

An interesting feature of that village is the chain link ferry which is one of the last in the country.
